As 2017 comes to a close, the Civil Maps team is busy gearing up for our next event. We’re excited to announce that we’ll be kicking off the new year by exhibiting at CES from January 9-12, 2018.

This is our second year at the show. The first was an experience that I will never forget. We were a much smaller company at that time. While it was a challenge to execute dozens of live demos and host an exhibit space, we pulled it off and grew stronger as a team. The video above captures some of those moments in Las Vegas as well as our work throughout the year. Before heading back to San Francisco after CES ended, I asked my colleague, Scott Harvey, about his thoughts on demoing and the key problems we are solving in the autonomous driving industry. Some of his answers are featured in the video.

To learn more, we welcome you to set up a booth appointment with us. Over the past few months, we’ve achieved many new milestones, specifically with our fingerprinting technology. This is a key breakthrough because it enables localization in six degrees of freedom (6 DoF) and Edge Mapping™, which is Civil Maps’ technology for in-vehicle map creation, map usage, and crowdsourcing. In a recent blog, our CEO, Sravan Puttagunta, offers more details about fingerprinting and how it relates to the genesis story of the company. For self-driving car developers, mapping providers, and mobility companies, the technology is a solution that radically reduces the costs, computing power, storage, energy, and bandwidth requirements needed for mapping and localization. It is a standout in the industry, and we’ll be sharing more about it at CES.

CES is considered the premier consumer technology event of the year, bringing more than 180,000 industry professionals from around the globe to Vegas for the unveiling of new innovations and gadgets. While most people may know CES as the showcase for the latest and greatest big-screen TVs and mobile phones, the event has also become one of the larger, more respected summits for the automotive industry. Manufacturers like Ford, Honda, and Toyota are now regulars, along with ancillary technology companies driving the next generation of mobility — particularly self-driving tech. Each year, attendees can expect the revelation of various upgrades to the quickly-evolving, self-driving technology ecosystem, helping autonomous vehicles drive smarter and safer.
