Good news for our Metro Phoenix friends: Waymo’s ride-hailing app is now available on Google Play.
Our mission is to make it safe and easy for people to get around, which we’ve been doing over the last two years through our early rider program and more recently, our public service.
To make it even easier for more people in Metro Phoenix to ride with us, we’re launching our Waymo app on Google Play. Interested riders with Android devices can download the app and join the waitlist to ride. Once accepted from our waitlist, you’ll be able to request rides in the app and take your first trip.
For now, new riders will still be invited to join our early rider program first before moving to our public service. These two offerings are deeply connected, as learnings from our early rider program help shape the experience we ultimately provide to our public riders.
Launching our app in Google Play will create a smoother experience for riders from sign-up to first ride and will allow us to more easily welcome members of the public into our Waymo One programs.
If you live in the Metro Phoenix area, download the Waymo app today, and come experience self-driving!
NOTE: The app is marked as “Unreleased” in the Play Store, a standard Google Play distinction for early access apps. The Waymo app can still be downloaded and is available for use now.
Android users: Download the Waymo app and sign up to ride was originally published in Waymo on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.
